Warm Horizon

 

Robin Williams' suicide pushed the public awareness of the dangers and seriousness of depression to the forefront.

Warm Horizon has been written from the perspective of one who has suffered from major depression and who learned to defeat it.

The publication "Warm Horizon" presented through this site is based on the premise that understanding the various mechanisms of depression is paramount to the effective management of the disorder. Warm Horizon presents the material in an organized and progressive fashion to the reader, covering the many issues that relate to the onset and continuance of depression. 

Why should you be interested in this publication? The information in this publication is carefully crafted to give depressives and all other interested individuals the essential factors in the development of depressive vulnerability and in the development of depression itself. So interested readers must be aware that this information is quite technical in the early portions of the program. This is information normally not presented to the public in that it is initially difficult to understand and to accept. But that difficulty can be overcome if readers persist in the understanding that we cannot be unacceptable as human beings no matter what has happened to us early in our lives--whether we know what happened to us or not--that has resulted in a vulnerability to depression. So be aware that it will likely take perseverance to master and become comfortable with this material. In fact, as author it actually took me three or four months to become totally comfortable with the technical lingo in this publication. But I assure you, since that point, I have had no further difficulty.

Finally, an important aspect of this material involves the progressive development of a holistic perspective--a perspective that becomes somewhat mystical by the latter stages of the publication. As author, the development of such a perspective just prior to my episode of depression was a positive factor in my recovery, and acquired insight, from the illness. Thus, that was paramount in my decision to include it in this material.
