Warm Horizon Chapter Five
Here the relationship of guilt to shame and thus also to depression is explained and what differences there can be in guilt-related depression. (But it does not matter whether one has a guilt issue associated with their depression. All depression must be dealt with in mostly the same way.) Additional information is provided to that of the previous chapter(s) that further addresses useful self-help measures for dealing with depression. More suggestions are offered, along with the useful use of self-affirmation for counteracting the shame mechanism. Also, support group participation is encouraged and selected ones are provided. In Section III further explanation and suggestions are made to help significant others deal effectively, and without surprise, with depressed loved ones. Finally, explanation is made as to how higher-level vulnerability is established and what it means for a higher-level type of depression. Such higher-level depression is characterized and the point is made that most who have chosen to read this publication are those who fit at this level of vulnerability.
